Blair School of Music presents a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of iconic composer Maurice Ravel, Wednesday, March 5, 2025, 8:00 p.m., in Turner Recital Hall. The program will feature Blair faculty members Hailey Clark, Jennifer McGuire, Rachel Miller, Molly Barth, Mariam Adam, Connie Heard, David Samuel, Felix Wang, and Craig Nies, along with student performers.

About Maurice Ravel: 
Widely considered one of the world’s most beloved composers, Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) is renowned for his intricate melodies and unique musical style, with pieces like “Boléro,” “Pavane pour une infante défunte,” and “Daphnis et Chloé” making him a prominent figure in 20th century French music and globally acclaimed by audiences and musicians alike. 
His music combines elements of different styles including Baroque, classical, jazz, and the music of his Basque heritage, creating a unique and recognizable sound. “Boléro” is arguably his most famous piece, known for its repetitive structure and captivating build-up. Alongside Debussy, Ravel is considered a leading figure in French music of his era.
