Vanderbilt Off-Broadway’s production of Heathers: The Musical is an edgy, dark, and hilarious satire based upon the 80’s cult-classic film Heathers, which follows the students of Westerberg High School. Our “hero,” narrator, and main character, Veronica Sawyer (Leni Ertel), enters her senior year of high school and is quickly recruited by the school’s ruling clique, the Heathers. Led by Heather Chandler (Katie van Arsdel), the Heathers quickly turn Veronica’s life upside down. Things get complicated, however, when Veronica meets the dark and mysterious JD (Garrett Greene), who opens her eyes to the cruel realities of life. After JD kills one of her classmates, Veronica is forced to reconcile with the truths of human nature, and consider what truly makes someone “Beautiful.”
